About the Conference

Rapid population ageing is transforming societies and economies, presenting both challenges and opportunities that demand a comprehensive rethink of ageing.

The 2024 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in Bali, Indonesia, will explore the theme of "Reframing Ageing"  from 11-13 September 2024, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) in Bali, Indonesia. This multi-stakeholder event aims to provide a dynamic platform for sharing experiences, learning from innovations, and establishing meaningful connections among stakeholders from across the region and beyond.

The conference will convene international participants and presenters to examine ageing from diverse viewpoints, emphasising the importance of envisioning fair and equitable ageing societies. It seeks to facilitate adaptation by societies and governments, fostering dialogue on strategies that prioritise fairness and equity for present and future older generations. In addition to addressing the complexities of ageing, the event will explore intersections with other significant processes such as climate change and technological development, underscoring the importance of integrated approaches to addressing global challenges.

By bringing together a wide array of stakeholders, the conference will contribute to advancing understanding and action on ageing issues. Participants will have the opportunity to share insights, learn from innovative approaches, and collaborate on developing inclusive solutions that promote the well-being and rights of older persons.

Reframing Ageing

- The central theme -

The theme "Reframing Ageing" signifies a transformative shift towards viewing ageing as an opportunity for societal evolution. It challenges ageist stereotypes by emphasising the value and contributions of older persons. This approach promotes active, healthy ageing and intergenerational solidarity while advocating for inclusive policies and age-friendly environments. By reframing ageing, the 2024 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference aims to inspire innovative strategies that prioritise equity and well-being across generations.
It seeks to mobilise stakeholders to reimagine ageing societies and advocate for dignified, purposeful lives for older individuals.
